I'll admit it, when I started reading the Harry Potter books as a kid, I was smitten with Gryffindor and repulsed by Slytherin, like all normal people (you Slytherin types are so weird). However, as the years passed and I grew into the adult I am today, I realized that Gryffindor might not be the house for me! There was another house that caught my fancy, a house that some might say is.... misunderstood. Determined to shed some light on the house that won my heart, I've compiled a list of reasons why Hufflepuff house is the house for me ;)
1. Our Common Room is Right Next to the Kitchens:
That's right y'all, we have got to have the best situated house in Hogwarts, not to mention the most comfortable. Our common room is resplendent with low ceilings and bewitched to always look sunny and cheerful.
2. Helga Hufflepuff:
People don't pay much attention to our founder, probably because she wasn't always trying to cause drama with the other founders and didn't have overly-ambitious children stealing her jewellery, but she was pretty rad in her own way. Not only was she an egalitarian waaay before her time, she also had a particular talent for food charms and she organized the contingent of house elves in Hogwarts, providing them with somewhere safe to work. Not to mention she also founded the village of Hogsmeade. You're welcome.
3. Our House Motto:
I mentioned before that Helga was an egalitarian who was willing to take the rest, when the other founders only wanted children with courage, intelligence or ambition. Helga, however, valued other traits like hard-work, patience, a positive attitude and loyalty. And trust me kids, you won't get far in life without those! We're basically the best friends you could ever have.
4. Our House Colours:
I'm callin' it. Of all the Hogwarts' colour combinations, Hufflepuff's is the best. I don't even need to make an argument, it just is.

6. Our Mascot:
Snakes and Lions are fine and dandy, and Ravens are a good time, but we all KNOW that badgers are where it's at. No other creature is so fierce and hard-working (and cute) as the badger! And this totally legit nature documentary proves it:

In an interview, J.K. Rowling stated that in many ways, Hufflepuff is her favourite house.
8. We're Particularly Good Finders :D
Finally, if I haven't convinced you of Hufflepuff's merits, let me make one more point. We can find shit like nobody's business. Trust me, I work with old people and am forever finding jewellery, hair clips, hearing aids, hearing aid batteries, pills, etc. What can I say? It's a talent.
